Summer Camp 2026: Where Young Explorers Take Their First Flight
December 2025
The Philippines AirAsia operations team visited the Sputnik Aviation facility to take a closer look at the simulator and spend some time discussing how both sides could continue working together to support the local aviation industry.
The visit focused on evaluating the Airbus A320 simulator environment and how it could be used for operational purposes, including pilot hiring assessments. For airlines, these checks are an important step. It’s not only about the equipment itself; it’s about whether the environment realistically reflects what pilots experience in the flight deck.

Third Row (L-R) Capt. Aljess Lasmarias, Safety/Human Factors Manager | Capt. Rome Layug, Managing Partner (SNK)
During the visit, David, Rome, and Giann spent time with the AirAsia team going over the simulator setup and how the facility is used both for immersive aviation experiences and for airline-related assessments.

Following the ocular visit late last year, the facility has already been used for several rounds of First Officer simulator evaluations as part of the airline’s recruitment process. Holding these assessments locally has also made the process smoother for the airline, while still giving their team the level of realism they expect when evaluating pilots.

Visits like this reflect the growing collaboration between aviation organizations across the Philippines. As airlines expand and continue recruiting pilots, having reliable facilities that can support operational assessments becomes an important part of that ecosystem.
For Sputnik Aviation, supporting airlines such as Philippines AirAsia reflects the same focus that has guided the facility from the start: maintaining an environment that meets the expectations of professional aviation partners.
